Why vector SVG matters for cutting
Cutting machines follow paths, not pixels. A puzzle image that looks fine on screen can produce jagged or doubled cut lines once auto-traced. The SVGs generated here are built directly from the puzzle's cut geometry: each piece is a single closed path with smooth curves, which means clean kerf lines, no stray nodes, and pieces that actually interlock after cutting.

Using the SVG with a Cricut
- Create your puzzle in the Jigsaw Puzzle Creator, with a photo printed on sticker paper or cardstock, or as a blank cutting template.
- Download the SVG and import it into Cricut Design Space.
- Size the design to your material (a 20cm × 15cm puzzle works well on standard mats).
- For photo puzzles, use Print Then Cut for the image layer, or glue your printed photo to chipboard and cut the outline through both.
- Cut with the fine-point blade for paper/cardstock or the knife blade for chipboard up to 2mm.
Using the SVG with a laser cutter
- Import the SVG into LightBurn, Glowforge, or your laser software.
- Assign the puzzle paths to a cut layer; if you included the border, it cuts the outer frame.
- 3mm birch plywood, basswood, and MDF are the classic materials; acrylic makes vivid modern puzzles.
- Mind the kerf: at typical laser kerf (~0.1–0.2mm) pieces stay pleasantly snug. Print and glue your artwork before cutting, or engrave a design on the first pass.
